It just so happens that I had recently changed doctors surgeries and when I asked the new surgery if I could start reducing them, they couldn't understand why I had been put on them in the first place as 2 different doctors from that same surgery said they NEVER prescribe Trazodone to their patients because of all of the effects that have been reported. I had enough after a while of constantly being short of breath and feeling really tired if I didn't take the medication really early, that I asked if I could come off them. I've been looking around and there are two things I want to bring up next - trazodone and doxepin. I am just unable to function because of lack of sleep. But it might be lurking in there somewhere I can't be sure. I have stopped everything for the last 2-1/2 months and I am sleeping a few hours every 3-4 days. It would knock me out for 10 hours and it would not a restful sleep. Then a nurse practitioner started me on Mirtazapine 15-30 mg. After coming off of Paxil it was the first time I truly got depressed. I slept a few hours every night using St Jon's wort. I tapered off of it, tried 5 htp, tryptophan, etc, nothing helped. If I didn't take that sleep it would leave me with tremendous headache all day. I would wake up at 2 am and then feel sleepy around 5-6am. It did help me sleep but towards the later years it had gotten strange. A PCP gave me paxil 15 years ago to help with sleep saying that I might be depressed or anxious. There might be some depression involved in my case as well, can't be sure. I would be curious to know if you get restful sleep using it.
